For Immediate Release:

The Monday Musical Club Fund of The Youngstown Foundation has made a grant of $10,000 to the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band to help to underwrite the 2019-2020 season.

Founded in 2001, the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band provides extracurricular, high-quality music education and performance opportunities to a select group of outstanding young musicians. The program not only provides the students with an opportunity to expand their musical knowledge and expertise, but it also provides them with the opportunity to meet and work with like-minded peers from other schools and communities throughout the region.

Membership in the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band is a prestigious honor and 78 exceptionally talented young musicians representing 28 high schools from throughout the Mahoning and Shenango valleys have been selected to participate for the 2019-2020 school year.

JoAnn Stock, Chief Development Officer at Stambaugh Auditorium said, “Not only does participation in the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band expand their musical knowledge and skills, but it also helps to instill in the students the importance of hard work, integrity, work ethic, teamwork, and discipline.”

Over the years, participation in the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band has paved the way for many of the students to continue their music education at the college level and to pursue careers in musical performance or music education. Stock added, “The support of our donors is what makes this all possible.”

Under the leadership of directors Brand Payne and Tyler Husosky, the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band has begun weekly rehearsals and will open the 2019 – 2020 season with their Fall Concert on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stambaugh Auditorium concert hall. Tickets are available online at www.stambaughauditorium.com or by calling the Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office at Stambaugh Auditorium at 330-259-0555.
