E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ
The E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ, Op. 582
Stambaugh Auditorium is home to a large, un-augmented E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ. The organ boasts a four manual console, 67 stops, and nearly four thousand pipes which vary in size from the smallest (about the size and weight of a #2 pencil) to the largest at 30 inches by 32 feet and weighing 750 pounds. The organ features rare pipe work with sounds such as the French Horn, Mombarde, Corno di Bassetto, Corno d’Amore, Tuba Mirabiis, Ophicleide, Flute Trangulaire, Kleine Erzhaler II, and English (Willis) Mixtures. Altogether, there are 58 ranks. Although this is the only remaining Skinner organ in the area, other Skinner organs can be heard at Washington National Cathedral and Cleveland Public Auditorium, among other locations.
