Stambaugh Auditorium receives oriental rug from the Estate of Jeanne Deibel Tyler

The Estate of Jeanne Deibel Tyler has donated an original Ardabil oriental rug to Stambaugh Auditorium.

The rug will be displayed in the main floor lobby adjacent to the entrance to The Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom. The 27’ x 13’ rug was hand-knotted in Iran and dates back to the early 20 th century. It was a family heirloom and was in Mrs. Tyler’s living room for over 60 years.

Mrs. Tyler was a long-time trustee of Stambaugh Auditorium and contributed the lead gift to refurbish the Grand Ballroom. Mr. James H. Sisek, former trustee, reported, “This gift will enhance the ballroom entrance for years to come and Jeanne would be pleased to have Stambaugh take care of it.”

JoAnn Stock, Stambaugh Chief Development Officer, said, “We much appreciate the gift of this magnificent rug and are honored to now provide a permanent home for it at Stambaugh Auditorium.”
