Youngstown CityScape has been strengthening our city for over 28 years, delivering beautiful green space, exciting events, and terrific public amenities. From the start, CityScape has focused on thoughtful, intentional projects and place-making, improved design standards, and community education that improve Youngstown’s downtown, corridors, and adjacent neighborhoods. To celebrate this year’s triumphs, CityScape presents its sixteenth annual Grass Roots Gala on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Stambaugh Auditorium. In 2026 Youngstown CityScape will honor one of the founding members, Past Board President, and current board representative, Scott Schulick. And we’re pulling out all the stops to make this a gala to remember!
Scott Schulick is dedicated to all things Youngstown – he has spent his life connecting the dots, creating positive impact throughout the community and the Mahoning Valley. For nearly 30 years, Schulick has been a driving force behind downtown revitalization, demonstrating unwavering commitment through enthusiastic support and participation. “We want this event to celebrate Scott and reflect the breadth and depth of his connections to this community and this organization,” remarked Sharon Letson. “Scott has a hand in so many of the good things happening around town – he is Youngstown’s biggest booster and an amazing resource for positive advancement, promoting the city’s history and envisioning a bright future.”
Since 2010, Youngstown CityScape has awarded the David & Pat “Sweet Grass Roots Award” to an individual or group making significant personal and professional commitment to the organization’s mission of revitalizing downtown. “Scott’s commitment to CityScape has been unwavering since he helped found the organization over 28 years ago,” said Letson. “He has served on CityScape’s Board as Chair and Vice Chair, headed several committees, and was one of the organization’s strongest supporters. Beyond his Board work, Scott has been a tireless volunteer and constant advocate and fundraiser for nearly 30 years.” Schulick currently serves as Immediate Past President of Youngstown CityScape’s Board of Directors. This year’s Grass Roots Gala celebrates Scott Schulick’s remarkable dedication to helping CityScape realize its vision for downtown, and his commitment to preserving Youngstown’s past and promoting its future.
